Monte da Penha Altitude - Reserva Red 2017
The name "Altitude" reflects the importance of our old vineyards located in the Serra do Monte da Penha, which precedes the majestic Serra de São Mamede mountain range. Between 400 and 600 metres of altitude, these vineyards benefit from a unique mesoclimate, with warm days and cool, humid nights, ideal conditions for a balanced ripening of the grapes, giving the wines freshness and elegance.
Produced from regional grape varieties, this red wine expresses the best that Monte da Penha has to offer. The vines, planted in 1987, are rooted in granitic, clay-limestone soils with the presence of schist, reflecting the mineral character and complexity that distinguishes the terroir of the Serra de São Mamede.
The label features a watercolour of Hyacinthus orientalis (Hyacinth), painted by Verónica Beja Fino, which symbolises the exuberant and classic beauty, as well as the depth of this wine. With freshness, structure and excellent ageing potential, Monte da Penha Altitude Reserva Red 2017 is a celebration of the tradition, time and authenticity of the Portalegre region, captured in every bottle.
