The Gertrudes Reserva Red 2015 is more than a wine; it is a tribute to Gertrudes, the matriarch of our family, who at 100 years old embodies strength, elegance, and legacy. Following in her father's footsteps, the founder of Tapada do Chaves, Gertrudes was a visionary who marked the history of Portalegre wines.

Produced from regional grape varieties from our high-altitude vineyards, this wine reflects the unique terroir of the Serra de São Mamede. The vineyards, planted in granite, clay-limestone, and schist soils, benefit from a temperate mesoclimate, with warm days, cool and humid nights, conferring unparalleled freshness, structure, and complexity.

The label features a watercolor of an olive tree flower, a centuries-old tree typical of our region, symbolizing wisdom and longevity – characteristics that also define Gertrudes.

Like the olive tree, this wine reflects a striking character: structured, deep, and with excellent aging potential. The Gertrudes Red 2015 is a tribute to the past and a landmark of inspiration for future generations, capturing the essence of tradition and excellence of Monte da Penha.

Do you deliver nationwide?

Currently, deliveries are only made to mainland Portugal. We do not yet ship to the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores.

Where is the estate located?

Herdade Monte da Penha is located in Portalegre, in the Alentejo wine region, at an altitude of between 400 and 600 metres, benefiting from a unique terroir with granite and clay-limestone soils.
