Monte da Penha Harvest - White 2023
The name "Harvest" celebrates the essence of the grape harvest, the moment when the grapes are picked at their ideal ripeness, representing the careful work in the vineyard and winery. This wine is produced from 2 hectares of white grapes planted in 1987, following the vineyard registry of Tapada do Chaves, a historic property associated with our family.
The combination of Arinto, Fernão Pires, Roupeiro, and Trincadeira das Pratas grape varieties gives it a unique balance. Arinto contributes minerality and acidity, while Fernão Pires adds fruit and a delicate floral touch. Roupeiro, with some bottle age, offers more mature notes. Trincadeira das Pratas, used in a minimal percentage, was traditionally used by our grandfather and great-grandfather Joaquim da Cruz Baptista to give a natural acidity to the wines, connecting this white wine to the family history.
The label, illustrated with a watercolour of Hedera Helix (English Ivy), symbolizes freshness, renewal, and resilience – values that also define this wine.
Located on granite, clay-limestone, and some schist soils, at an altitude of 400-600 metres, the vineyards reflect the unique terroir of the Serra de São Mamede.
With remarkable freshness, balance, and ageing potential, Harvest White 2023 is a tribute to tradition, nature, and the care that distinguishes Monte da Penha wines.
